Project Manager [Hazards Team]

Project Manager [Hazards Team]

Responsibilities

Role Overview
We're looking for a Project Manager to be the connective tissue between Research & Development, Product, and Business Development teams — turning frontier satellite and geospatial technology into products that ship and create real-world value.

This is a high-ownership role for someone who thrives in ambiguity, can speak fluently to both scientists and commercial stakeholders, and knows how to move complex, multi-disciplinary initiatives from concept to delivery. You won't just track timelines; you'll shape how the organization plans, prioritizes, and delivers its most strategic work.

Key Responsibilities
・Own end-to-end delivery of satellite data analysis and geospatial initiatives — translating ambitious R&D concepts into shipped capabilities with measurable business impact.
・Build and maintain a unified roadmap across R&D, Product, and Business Development, ensuring every team is aligned on priorities, dependencies, and outcomes.
・Keep complex, multi-team programs on time and on budget, defining milestones and deliverables, and proactively steering them to completion.
・De-risk delivery before issues escalate by anticipating bottlenecks, managing resource allocation, and driving clear mitigation plans.
・Act as the single source of truth for stakeholders, communicating progress, surfacing trade-offs, and resolving blockers so leadership and partners always know where things stand.
・Manage vendors, data providers, and partners— coordinating relationships across satellite imagery, ground-segment, and cloud-data suppliers where applicable.
・Coordinate compliance, data governance, and licensing across initiatives, navigating the requirements that frequently accompany Earth observation data.
・Improve how the organization operates by refining project management practices, reporting, and rituals as the team scales.

Required Skills

Required Qualifications
・Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Earth Science, Business Administration, or a related field, with proven project management experience in R&D, deep-tech, or technology-driven environments.
・Familiarity with satellite data, geospatial technologies, or other data-intensive domains, with sufficient technical fluency to collaborate effectively with engineering and science teams.
・Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage multiple projects, and prioritize effectively.
・Strong problem-solving and strategic-thinking skills, with a demonstrated ability to drive projects to successful and timely completion.

Preferred Skills and Experience

Preferred Qualifications
・Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field, with hands-on experience in remote sensing, GIS, or Earth observation.
・Experience bridging technical and commercial functions, such as business development, sales, go-to-market, or technology delivery.
・Familiarity with Agile or Lean methodologies, satellite data pipelines, cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), and relevant Earth observation data formats.
・Experience with budget management, financial analysis, and stakeholder relationship-building; business-level proficiency in French and/or Japanese is a plus.
